Grading
Graded work will include a final exam, four in-class exams, periodic quizzes, and homework. Each of the exams and quizzes will be announced in class at least one week before it is given. Homework will be submitted via WebAssign. There will also be written homework. The final grade will be calculated using the following weights: homework 9%; quizzes 6%; in-class exams 16% each; final exam 21. Your lowest two quiz scores will be dropped. The following grading scale will be applied: 91 - 100 A, 89 - 90 A -, 87 - 88 B+, 81 - 86 B, 79 - 80 B -, 77 - 78 C+, 71 - 76 C, 69 - 70 C -, 60 - 68 D, and below 60 is an F.

Missed work
In-class exams may be made up in the event of University of Georgia athletics (arrangements in advance only) or documented illness. Homework and quizzes may be made up. There will be no homework extensions.

Technology
Use of graphics, programmable, and scientific calculators is encouraged for homework assignments. Specifically, use of TI-83(+) or TI-84 calculators is recommended. Some exams/quizzes will be entirely calculator-free. Others may utilize programmable calculators. Calculators with symbolic algebra capability (such as the TI-89,92,Voyage 200, or other CAS) are not allowed on any quizzes or exams. At all quizzes and exams, the calculator memory must be free of additional mathematical material.

Attendance
It is your responsibility to know what happens in class. The best way to fulfill this obligation is to come to every class meeting unless you are too ill to attend. Most class time will be spent examining concepts and their applications. It is important that you are present and attentive at every class meeting.

Academic Honesty
As a University of Georgia student, you have agreed to abide by the university's academic honesty policy, "A Culture of Honesty", and the Student Honor Code. All academic work must meet the standard described in "A Culture of Honesty" found at: http://www.uga.edu/honesty. Lack of knowledge of the academic honesty policy is not a reasonable explanation for a violation. Questions related to course assignments and the academic honesty policy should be directed to the instructor.

Electronic Devices
One aspect of being a member of a community of scholars is to show respect for others by the way you behave. One way of showing respect for others in the educational community is to do your part to create or maintain an environment that is conducive to learning. That being said, allowing your pager or cell phone to ring in class is completely inappropriate because it distracts your classmates and thus degrades their overall classroom experience. Answering your cell phone is doubly inappropriate! For the sake of your classmates, I expect you to turn off your pager and/or cell phone or set it to mute/silence BEFORE you enter class -- every class. Furthermore, if you use your cell phone in any manner during class (e.g. text messaging, games, etc.), you will be dismissed from class and will forfeit any points you might have earned in the remainder of the period. If you use your cell phone in any manner during a test or quiz, you have violated the academic honesty policy. (This policy also applies to LAPTOPS, pagers, iPODs, BlackBerrys, PDAs, Treos, MP3 players and all other electronic communication and/or data storage devices.)
