Reading the textbook before each class is highly recommended. Even if you did not understand it while you are reading your text, reading it is still helpful for you to keep up with the in-class lecture.

| Homework | We will be using a online homework system called webwork. Its address is webwork.math.uga.edu. You need to click "OK" in the popup window. The account number and password will be given in class. It is very important that you do all the homework. Past experience shows that students who do not take homework seriously do poorly on the exams and most of them fail. |
| Tests | We will have four in-class tests and one final exam. No calculator will be allowed during tests and exams. |
Lots of communication among instructor and students will be done on Webct. Please keep yourself updated on your test grades and the class calendar. I will post class announcement on webct. And you can also set up discussions with your fellow students. You can send me email on webct and I will also participate the discussion board. Be sure to check on http://webct.uga.edu use your UGA myID and password at least three times a week to keep yourself updated in the class progress. The class calendar will be updated very often.
Daily attendance is strongly suggested. Any student with 3 of fewer absences for the semester will be allowed the option of replacing their lowest test score by their final exam score. Any student with 5 or more unexcused absence for the semester will be withdrawn from the class.
As a general rule I DO NOT give make-up quizzes or tests. Quizzes or tests will be announced so there is no need for one to arbitrarily miss class on test days. If you have a legitimate emergency, please contact the Office of Student Affairs. Student Affairs can verify your situation and will provide your professors with this verification.
The Withdrawal Deadline is now two weeks after the semester midpoint. The Withdrawal Deadline for Fall 2008 is Thursday, October 23, 2008. The grading system for withdrawals has changed. The W (Withdrawal) has been changed to a WP (Withdrawal Passing).
For undergraduate students, there is now a limit of four (4) career withdrawals at UGA before all subsequent withdrawals receive an automatic grade of WF (Withdrawal Failing). The count will begin Fall 2008 regardless of when a student matriculated and of any withdrawals in previous terms. All withdrawals are included in the count except: Hardship Withdrawals, Withdrawals from Audited Courses, and Military Withdrawals.
All students are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of honesty and integrity in every phase of their academic careers. The penalties for academic dishonesty are severe and ignorance of UGA policy is NOT an acceptable defense. Students should pay particular attention to sections 5 and 7 of the academic honesty statement found at the link below.
