Mathematics Department Newsletter June 2021

It is a pleasure to report on the outstanding accomplishments and activities of our graduate students  -- thanks to Director of Graduate Studies Neil Lyall for providing information about our graduate program.

Our graduate students are pursuing their research both at UGA and elsewhere this summer.  Four students are participating in Summer Graduate Schools run by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (Berkeley, California) in 2021:

Our Undergraduate Research Program had a very successful year, under the leadership of our Undergraduate Research Coordinators Lin Mu and Robert Schneider.  Thanks to Dr. Schneider for providing information about the URP.

Our undergraduates continue to thrive.  Thanks to Undergraduate Coordinator Mo Hendon for providing information about our undergraduate program.

Math Department Lecturer Allison Arnold has been awarded this year's departmental Outstanding Instructor Award. Besides her own fine teaching, Allison's generous sharing of her expertise since the start of the pandemic played a major role in our successful transition to online and hybrid modes of instruction, and the committee enthusiastically supported her for this award.
