Course Format

This course is divided into three major sections - Functions, Logs and Exponentials, and Trigonometry. There will be four tests, all of which contain 12 questions. There will be a comprehensive final exam at the end of the course. All tests are given in rooms 324 or 220 in Boyd GSRC.

Online Homework

At least 80% of your grade will be determined by computer assessments. It is important that you become very familiar with the online testing and quiz process as soon as possible. Online homework is available to help you prepare for the tests. These contain practice problems from each section of the textbook. It is suggested that students read the pertinent section in the book and look at the formulas and examples there before working on the textbook and online homework. It should be noted that the tests for this semester will probably contain some problems from the textbook homework as well as problems from the online homework and webquizzes. There will also be questions on tests that will be new to you. The online homework and testing system is WebAssign.

WebQuizzes

This term there will be nine online WebQuizzes. The due dates for these assignments will be visible on your WebAssign calendar. There are different due dates for each testing group. Two of the WebQuiz grades will be dropped. You are encouraged to work together on WebQuizzes.

Communication With Your Teacher

The key to success in this course is to work on the material everyday. If there is something about which you are unclear, check with your instructor. Your instructor will announce to you their office hours and their email address. E-mail is a quick and convenient way to get your questions and/or concerns addressed. You can also send messages directly through WebAssign.
